The Ms. MacKenzie Scott’s Gift: President’s Initiatives encourages the development of new pilot initiatives through Calls for Proposals that are issued biennially. New initiatives have emerged such as the ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Student Symposium that each year energizes our campus with a celebration of our students’ academic presentations and creative works that exemplify their scholarly excellence and ingenuity.
Newly funded initiatives are implementing innovative strategies for building a stronger bridge to the transfer experience through student and alumni connections, providing increased and targeted support to students in the ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ fully online programs, and creating a mentored cohort learning experience in Latina/o/x, Latin American, and Caribbean (LLAC) Studies. PRESIDENT’S STUDENT RECOGNITION EVENTS
Each year the President’s Student Recognition events invite faculty and staff to submit nominations of students who have shown incredible perseverance and resilience while succeeding academically.
The President’s Recognition Tea in Honor of Women’s History Month and the President’s Recognition Barbeque Honoring Student Persistence and Resiliency are signature events held each spring to collectively honor up to 30 students. These events are powerful examples of how our students defy the odds with tenacity and the unwavering support of the ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ community that continually encourages them to believe in their potential.
