Campus Hazing Transparency Report Date: May 20, 2026
Between July 1, 2025, and May 20, 2026, there were no substantiated allegations of hazing involving students, faculty, staff, or members of the public at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡.
ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ of The City University of New York (“CUNY”) is committed to ensuring a safe environment in which all students have the right to participate in organizations without undergoing hazing as a right of entry or membership. Hazing is strictly prohibited by CUNY, consistent with the Rules and Regulations for the Maintenance of Public Order Pursuant to Article 129-A of the Educational Law (the “Henderson Rules”). The Henderson Rules prohibit, among other things:
Any action or situation which recklessly or intentionally endangers mental or physical health or involves the forced consumption of liquor or drugs for the purpose of initiation into or affiliated with any organization.
Thus, no individual or organization affiliated with CUNY shall conduct or condone hazing activities. This prohibition on hazing applies to all members of the CUNY community including faculty, staff, students, organizations, alumni, volunteers, and any visitors or individuals invited to CUNY campuses. Additionally, the prohibition of hazing applies to conduct that occurs on or off a campus, between two or more people who are affiliated with CUNY or any student or other organization associated with CUNY.
Reporting Procedures
Individuals seeking to initiate a hazing complaint may do so by contacting the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Johanna Gomez, at Jgomez@hostos.cuny.edu, and/or the Chief of Public Safety, Arnaldo Bernabe, at Abernabe@hostos.cuny.edu. Complaints may also be submitted to the CUNY Office of Student Affairs at StudentAffairs@cuny.edu.
Emergency Response
In the event of an immediate threat to health or safety off campus, individuals are advised to contact emergency services by dialing 911. To report hazing occurring on campus, individuals may contact the Department of Public Safety, located in Room C-030, at extension 6888 or 718-518-6888.
Support Services
Individuals who have experienced hazing are strongly encouraged to seek assistance from the Campus Counseling Center, which provides confidential counseling and support services. Recent graduates may contact Director Fabian Wander at Fwander@hostos.cuny.edu for referral to appropriate external resources.
