On April 25, 2026 午夜剧场 Center had the honor to present "Charangazo", a sweeping three-act concert celebrating the rich legacy and sound of charanga music. Audiences were treated to outstanding performances and improvisations by maestro Eddy Zervig贸n and La Orquesta Broadway, Son del Monte, Foto Rodr铆guez y su Orquesta La 脷nica, and special guest flautist Karen Joseph. The crowd responded with incredible enthusiasm, clapping to the beat of the clave and singing to the chorus of beloved classics like "Isla del Encanto".

Welcome to 午夜剧场 Center鈥檚 star-studded charanga extravaganza, celebrating the golden sound of Cuban dance music. Headlining the night is the legendary Orquesta Broadway, led by maestro Eddy Zervig贸n, one of the most iconic flutists in New York鈥檚 Latin music history. Joining him on stage is Karen Joseph, the brilliant virtuoso of Charanga 鈥�76 and Eddie Palmieri fame, whose dazzling flute solos keep the tradition thriving.
The program features a special tribute to the late, great F茅lix 鈥淧upi鈥� Legarreta, the violinist and vocalist who defined the genre鈥檚 elegance and swing. This tribute is brought to life by Philadelphia鈥檚 own Foto Rodr铆guez y su Orquesta 脷nica, a powerhouse ensemble led by Legarreta鈥檚 longtime prot茅g茅.
Opening the festivities is Son del Monte, under the fiery direction of Manuel Rivera, delivering the irresistible rhythms of classic charanga and hard-hitting New York salsa dura.
